HOW WE CARVE MOTION IN THE DAYLIGHT

It is interesting how often mindfulness and slowness are associated with contemplation. Slowness specifically, brings to mind a sort of therapeutic ease. But contemplation can be a taxing, sometimes unnerving process. Thinking idly can lead all sorts of places. I wanted to capture that mix of emotions by grouping reflective phrases like "How was your day?" with more pointed or provocative lines.

In writing them out, it occurred to me how much violence underscores daily life. Images like a dead bird on the sidewalk or blood washing down a sink get garbled amidst the static of all we see in a day. The way they're presented here mimics that, as they flash for a brief moment before being replaced with something new. Alternating between pairs of phrases presents each in two different contexts, like a chain of thought slowly being strung together
